That's what my radio said before the programme started. I genuinely thought Susan might be going to ask Helen why they'd put her and Clarrie through that interview process when they'd obviously decided whom they wanted. Silly me.

I thought that too, and was expecting to be able to sound off about it because it's Clarrie who deserves an explanation! But I very much hope that Rochelle lets Susan down, that nobody else is prepared to cover Joy's shifts and that Susan finds herself in a pickle.

I don't think there's much doubt about Rochelle letting Susan down, she wasn't exactly the world's most obliging volunteer. Wonder what she'd be like let loose on a customer!

She does seem to have a rather ‘stuff you!’ attitude.

I did enjoy her realisation that she wasn't going to be paid.

Rather revealing of her approach to life. Nothing for nothing and other people don’t count.

Susan of course is paid as the sub post mistress.

If Joy had never mentioned it was unpaid and a community shop then it is perhaps not surprising Rochelle might assume it was paid. More interesting was that Mick was savvy enough to twig that might be an issue.

Clarrie can volunteer; I hear she has time on her hands. Then Clarrie and Susan can have their usual natter.

Better still, Clarrie could cover Susan's shifts at the dairy when Susan finds herself unable to keep the shop open unless she "volunteers" herself.
